And that is exactly why so many couples look at them first. They feel like a simple solution. But before you book one, there are a few important things to keep in mind.

So no, they are not really lifting all that weight off your shoulders.
That is why, in my opinion, if the legal part matters to you, there are often better ways to do it. More emotional ways. More personal ways. And honestly, less stressful ways too.
My suggestion in general is to handle the legal side at home, or before the actual elopement day, and keep your day in Italy for the meaningful part.

Because in Italy, you cannot legally get married anywhere you want. Only certain places allow a legal ceremony. A symbolic ceremony or vows ceremony gives you much more freedom, which means you can build a day that actually feels like you.

A lot of packages give you a photographer you did not choose, for a few hours, mostly to cover the ceremony.
And honestly, that is one of the biggest reasons I would be very careful.
Because with an elopement, the photographer is not just there to document the ceremony. A good elopement photographer helps you shape the whole day.

- timing
- weather backup plans
- privacy
- figuring out what kind of experience actually suits you
And maybe most importantly, you get to know them while planning. So when the day comes, you are not sharing it with a stranger who was assigned to you. You are sharing it with someone you trust.

Especially because most couples come to Italy once in a lifetime. So why would you want only two hours of coverage around the ceremony, when for a similar investment you could have an experienced elopement photographer with you for eight hours, helping you create and document the whole experience?

That is what generic packages usually miss.
They are built around what is already there.
A tailored elopement is built around your personality, your priorities, and the way you want the day to feel.
And that is where the best experiences come from.

What is the easiest option?
It is:
What kind of experience do we actually want?
Because once you start there, everything gets clearer.

And that is usually where the day becomes so much better.
For some couples, a package might be enough. But for many couples, especially the ones who want something personal, emotional, and really memorable, a tailored elopement is the better choice by far.
